Hi! I’m Laura.
I am a licensed clinical social worker accepting clients in both Idaho and Washington for therapy & consultation services. With a wealth of experience and a passion for helping navigate life’s challenges, my focus is to provide individualized compassionate person-centered care to all clients. With over 30 years in practice, I have significant experience with behavioral health & wellness, as well as complex medical issues contributing to psychosocial needs. I am designated as a specialist in geriatric mental health.
At the core of my therapeutic approach is a deep belief in the power of person-centered care. By listening attentively, providing unwavering support, and offering education on effective tools for mood regulation and coping skills, I empower my clients to take control of their mental health journey.
Grounded in family systems theory, my practice also integrates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-informed care. This comprehensive approach ensures that clients receive holistic and individualized treatment that addresses their unique needs and circumstances.
What sets me apart is my genuine dedication to fostering autonomy and resilience in my clients. Through a combination of active listening, empathetic support, and evidence-based interventions, I equip individuals with the skills and resources they need to navigate life's ups and downs with grace and focus.
Testimonials
“After my 27 year marriage came to a screeching and devastating end, I found myself unable to pull myself out of my spiral of depression and lack of purpose. Our house — once the place of so much joy and laughter — was empty; our children gone. My life lacked purpose. Now alone, there was no hiding from the loneliness and inability to sleep and unhappiness. My physician recommended Laura for therapy. And with that, life began to turn for the better.
Laura let me cry. She held space for me while I perseverated on what could have done differently. Over the months and years, Laura helped me make connections to what truly brought me joy rather than what I thought people wanted from me.
Today, 10 years later, I am leading an authentic life based not on what I believed people wanted me to do or to avoid conflict, but what brings me joy: gardening, working as a reading tutor, taking care of my friendships. I really don’t think it would have been possible without Laura’s guidance and faith in me.”
“Laura has been a very compassionate, highly skilled, and exceptionally effective mental health professional for my late mother, my sons, and myself. She was there helping us navigate our way through tough times. She truly cared and became like family. We deeply appreciate you, Laura. Looking forward to telehealth sessions soon!”
“Working with Laura made me feel heard. Like I didn’t have to censor myself or how I was feeling. She helped me to feel supported when feeling hurt and that I didn’t have to hide anything. I never want to hurt anyone’s feelings so I push things down. This would cause me to spontaneously cry when things felt out of control. It didn’t matter if I was at work or at home, if things felt out of control I couldn’t process and the tears would just start coming.
Working with Laura has helped me to learn to verbalize my feelings and wants, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. And that it’s okay if I cry when I’m processing or explaining myself. I also learned a different perspective on my childhood, which was eye opening for me and has helped me learn to forgive what has happened. I’m also learning how to effectively communicate what my wants/needs are with people in my life. I am by no means perfect or ‘healed’ so I look forward to continue to work with Laura in the future.”
